Introduction 

Angola is situated in Southwestern Africa. Angola immigration is a government department in Angola which manages foreign tourism in the country. It’s their job to manage and track every single foreigner that comes into the country to every single foreigner that leaves the country. They provide Angola visa services to foreigners who want to visit Angola. There are different categories through which an applicant can get an e-visa. Angola travels has a large list of rules and regulations that every foreigner has to follow. In these rules and regulations, there are also some restrictions that every applicant who is planning to visit Angola should know about. 

International Restrictions 

  • All the international travellers have to show the (negative) covid-19 PCR test and make sure that the test results should be the latest (within 72hours before departure).
  • All the passengers travelling to Angola are required to undergo a rapid COVID-19 test immediately. The test will be taken under a hangar in the airport and test reports will be announced quickly.
  • This test costs around $20 per person and is paid for by Angola bank.
  • If the passenger is not fully vaccinated, he/she will need to take compulsory quarantine for 7 days. It is not applied to the passengers who have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
  • It is published in the new rules that all the passengers having residence permits, refugee cards and the temporary stays visas that are issued by Angola and have expired will still be considered valid.
  • It is published that all the flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe are suspended.

Vaccination Guidelines 

  • Only those passengers who show a valid international certificate with proof of approved vaccination are allowed to be exempt from quarantine requirements.
  • A new rule is imposed that only authorized vaccines from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) or by the World Health Organization (WHO) are accepted. 

Government Measures 

  • The use of masks while travelling is compulsory. Passengers are not allowed to take their masks off on the flight. A passenger can only take his/her mask off while eating.
  • Restaurants in airports are open but with reduced opening hours and proof of vaccination is also required from passengers entering the restaurant.
  • Bars are still closed and the government cleared that bars must remain closed to limit the rate of transmission. 

Problems To passengers 

Passengers have to conduct a COVID test first before travelling and their travelling will depend on the report. Even after reaching Angola, they have to go through a quick COVID test. According to the passengers, it takes a lot of time and sometimes even if they have regular cough issues, they have to spend 7 days in quarantine. Passengers are facing issues at the airport because of the limited hour service at the restaurants, even if they have to eat at the restaurant. They have to show their COVID-19 test report. 

Travel Restrictions For Safety In Angola 

  • As per the reports, Angola has a high crime rate. It is seen that common crimes at night range from petty theft to armed robbery. Many cases are even carjacking. So, it is advised not to travel at night. Also, avoid walking alone at night.
  • Luanda is a place in Angola that has a very high crime rate against foreigners who visit there. Most of the cases are about criminals kidnapping foreigners from vehicles. It is advisable not to travel at night. Along with that, always keep your doors and windows locked.
  • Talking about the place Cabina. Civil unrest is common there. It is seen that public protest turns violent easily. As a tourist, you should avoid public gatherings.
  • From October to May, flash flooding may occur due to the rainy season in Angola. It may damage infrastructure and services. Avoid travelling between October and May.

It can be said that many restrictions are imposed by the government to prevent COVID cases. Other than COVID restrictions, there are many more restrictions that prevent the access of unwanted tourists in the country. These restrictions are imposed for the betterment of the situation.
